This month the Tufwell team turned its talents to a unique and quintessentially British project – supplying 12mm toughened glass for a full-size boxed replica of Corgi’s iconic 1965 Aston Martin DB5 model to mark the release of the 25th movie in the James Bond franchise.

Toughened glass

Laminated glass
Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is to laminated glass what Moneypenny is to Bond and M – that which holds them together! Laminated glass comprises two pieces of ordinary glass bonded into a single unit using heat and pressure. This double-layered design creates a safety glass perfectly suited for vehicle windows or shop fronts. In the event of laminated glass getting broken, the interlayer holds the loose shards together, minimising the risk of injury. Not necessarily a priority for a secret agent, but essential for anyone responsible for risk assessments.
Smart glass
Worthy of Q, smart glass is a must have for aspiring secret agents, as well as for the home or office. Also known as switchable glass, smart glass allows for the control of light transmission – including visible light, ultra violet and infrared – to change the appearance of glass from transparent to translucent and vice versa. Smart glass is useful for glass partitioning in large office areas, conference rooms, spas and restaurants; essentially wherever style, flexibility and privacy are required.
